How does itSMF Australia operate?

We are active in established in all States and territories  and managed via a Board of Directors. This Board of volunteers is elected at each Annual General Meeting and consists of the Executive: Chair, Deputy Chair, Treasurer and Secretary and four Ordinary members. The Chairperson of each state or territory Branch also attends Board meetings and contributes to the management of the organisation.

itSMF Australia is based in Melbourne where our national office staff deliver Member Services, Events, Administrative Support, Marketing and Accounting functions.

Bradley Busch - Chair and Strategy

Bradley has been involved with the itSMFA since 2002 and has contributed to the NSW Committee as a committee member, Special Interest Group co-ordinator and now represents NSW on the Board of Management in the role of Chair.

Kathryn Howard - Deputy Chair

Kathryn is an independent consultant with over 20 years experience in ICT service delivery and service management. She has been a member of the itSMF since 2005 contributing in recent years as a NSW Committee member, co-ordinating Special Interest Group meetings and was elected NSW State Branch Chairperson in 2010.

She regularly chairs Branch Seminars and has presented at the itSMF National Conference in Australia. During 2009-10 she studied and passed all ITIL V3 intermediate exams achieving her ITIL V3 Expert in early 2011.

Garry Long- Treasurer and Industry Awards

Currently ITSM Solution Architect at Optus, Garry is a highly proficient IT professional.

Garry manages two itSMF portfolios: Treasurer and Awards Director. As Treasurer, he is responsible for the overall financial management of the Australian Forum. He is also responsible for financial strategy in conjunction with the General Manager and the Board. As Awards Director, he is responsible for creation and management of the itSMF Awards, which are a genuine indicator of quality in ITSM implementation and Project Management.

Harry Powell - Board Secretary

Harry has been an individual member of itSMF Australia since October 2007 and was a founding member of the South Australian Branch. He has been an itSMF Board Director since 2005 as well as Deputy Chair and a regular attendee of State Branch Seminars and National Conferences.

Harry has over 30 years of experience in the IT Industry; his current role with the South Australian Education Department provides Curriculum IT support to Schools & Preschools via a panel of service providers.

As a Service Management professional, Harry became a member of itSMF Australia because he wanted to make a contribution to the ITSM industry and participate in its development.

Brian Jennings - Director

Brian Jennings has been an active member of itSMF Australia since 2000.  He has rejoined the Board after an absence of 8 years, during which period he has continued to attend Forum events and now looks forward to again playing a more active role. 

Brian brings a depth of experience to the Board, not only in IT service management but also in the management of the Forum and its activities, both nationally and internationally.   His main objective now is to assist in the promotion of new ITSM associated methodologies and frameworks and the ISO/IEC 20000 (ITSM) standard to keep members up to date in these areas - as well as the continual improvement of member services.  His Life Member bio at http://www.itsmf.org.au/page/LifeMember outlines his previous roles and contributions.

Brian has worked in the IT industry for over 30 years and has extensive practical experience in IT service management, business analysis, business continuity and project management.  He is a strategist, planner and solutions implementer with wide-ranging experience in management and technical roles in Business and Information Technology.  He is results driven and has a solid record of successful achievement in a variety of assignments requiring detailed planning, sound leadership, objectivity, resourcefulness and resilience in the face of business and technical challenges. 

Brian is a Certified ITIL V3 Expert and ISO/IEC 20000 Consultant and holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of Cambridge, majoring in electronics engineering.  He is a past Member of the Australian and the British Institute of Management.  Brian now lives with his family in sunny Noosaville.


 

 

Aprill Allen Knowledge Repository

Aprill is a knowledge management consultant and specialist IT writer. With 13 years’ experience in IT support, she has a passion for bringing better knowledge management practices to IT teams, everywhere. Since winning the national White Paper of the Year award from itSMF Australia in 2011 for her paper, A Simple Guide to Creating a Knowledge Base, she has become a committed advocate for the friendship and community the itSMF can offer. She has been a speaker at each itSMF conference thereafter; participated in NSW branch seminars; volunteered; and been on the Council of Members since 2013. Aprill regularly blogs on her own site, knowledgebird.com, and is community manager and occasional contributor to the ITSM Review.

 


 

 

Candice Walker Director

A skilled professional with a proven track record of successfully delivering IT Service Management process and projects in complex environments. Certified ITIL V3 Expert, coupled with an in-depth knowledge of Agile frameworks like Scrum and SAFe, I am experienced at implementing best practice frameworks that deliver tangible business benefits. 

A strong commitment to the principle of personal accountability, with an energetic hands-on approach to work, I am stimulated by new and exciting possibilities and challenges. I am motivated, self-aware and team oriented and a certified Agile Coach.

Specialties: ITSM process architecture, communication and implementation. Analysis, identification and implementation of service management toolsets. Specialised in change management processes, continual service improvement, service level management and service performance management including Major Incident Management and Problem Management.

 

Justin Gasparre Director

Over 15 years of IT experience ranging from helpdesk, field support, systems administration and culminating with IT Governance, Board of Management Representation and Director of a large directorate delivering enterprise solutions.


Trained in a variety of best practice methodologies and being from a technical background, having operated an IT Solution provision business, and working in multiple major Government Enterprise environments I have an excellent understanding of IT and Business.

Currently running my own business Catechize PTY LTD.

Previously I was the Director of Situational Awareness for the Department of Defence with scope of responsibility ranging across the Defence Single Information Environment. Focused on business improvement initiatives, process improvement and organisational maturity.

 

Brendan Cullen  Director

Seasoned ICT professional with more than 20 years’ experience. An accomplished Consultant, Service Desk Manager, Project Manager and Incident / Problem Manager with a solid track record of delivering customer centric and business outcomes in mission critical ICT environments. 
My experience spans a range of industries including Financial Services, Online Gaming, Utilities & Government (Police, State Development, TAFE SA & Health)

Phillip Palmer - Director

Phillip Palmer has been educating, entertaining and advising organisations in best practise principles for over 15 years. A self-described ‘Service Management Evangelist and Process and Quality Purist’, Phillip has garnered praise and awards for his infectious enthusiasm and practical application of best practice guidance.

A long standing public-speaker and facilitator by training, he usually represents the business point of view more so than those with a technical background. Phillip brings to the board a broad range of industry experience, having held many specialist ITSM and senior management roles in his career, to include Enterprise Software, Public Utilities, Local Government, Finance, Private banking, and Management Consulting.

Phillip joined the board to help promote ITSM as a profession to the next generation of IT, and assisting members on how they can get tangible results from an integrated approach to best practice frameworks (ITIL, DevOPS, LEAN, Agile) and international standards (ISO 2000, 9001).
