imulation drama: 'Why IT projects fail'

Michael Krigsman international panelist on the Hypothetical from the 2011 LEADit Conference

As we all know, almost all IT implementation failures suffer from unreconciled points of view, confusion, politics, and unclear definitions of success. No wonder these situations are difficult to manage and control successfully.

To shed light on the inner workings of IT failure, particularly the dynamics among stakeholders with conflicting goals and agendas, the IT Service Management Forum Australia (itSMFA) held an interesting event as part of its annual conference. The group created an IT project simulation, called a "hypothetical," and brought together experts to discuss problems and solutions.

Listen to business and IT stakeholders work together to create a successful project under difficult conditions.

It was an absolutely fabulous conference, full of so many good program choices it was difficult to decide which session to attend, with the Hot Topic Panels again especially popular.  The Exhibition was full with 40 exhibitors including the itSMF Stand with its new Twiosk featuring non-stop tweets, blog talk and Antipodean Podcast.

Volunteer Manager & WA State Chair Jane Roberts, volunteer Sandra Geary, itSMF Administration Officer Michelle Crawford and Stand Manager & itSMF Marketing Officer Bianca Reardon did an outstanding job.

The social program was so much fun on Casino Night hosted by Austin Powers and Felicity Shagwell - as you can the exhibitors and delegates alike really got into the Groove.

Delightfully balanced by a beautifully lit and elegantly decorated Masquerade Ball Gala Dinner.
