The UK Government's Cabinet Office has announced it is forming a joint venture with Capita, a UK-based business process management and outsourcing solutions company, to own and trade on its ‘Best Management Practice' portfolio which includes the ITIL and PRINCE2 frameworks.
Capita will partner with the Cabinet Office to service and grow the market for learning, accreditation and examination organisations that cater to corporate and government usage of the frameworks including the accreditation of examination institutes and training organisations.
itSMF Australia Chair, Kathryn Heaton has assured members that itSMF will continue to be involved on a local and global level and has already engaged with Capita to explore how the organisations can work together to develop the ITIL framework.

The itSMF AGM was held on Tuesday, 30 April 2013.
The International Standards committee that is responsible for the development of service management standards is doing research into the use of International Standards by smaller organizations and is seeking to understand the views of different groups of people and organizations towards Standards.
By 'smaller organizations' we mean those with less that 26 people in total.
If you are not part of a smaller organization but know someone who is would you please consider forwarding and recommending this survey to them.
This survey will take less that 20 minutes to complete and your views will remain anonymous.
To take the survey click here: www.surveymonkey.com/s/VSE_and_standards_2013_English
Participants will be able to request a copy of the Survey results. A summary will also be made available for itSMF members.
Thank you for helping us develop better International Standards.
If you wish to ask questions on this survey, please contact:

The Annual itSMF Industry Awards for Excellence in IT Service Management recognise and honour those organisations who have achieved extraordinary success from innovative and effective IT best practices, having regard to the particular circumstances of different industries, budgets and the diversity of IT implementation programs.
The Awards have evolved over the years in response to new developments in IT Service Management as well as Australian and International Standards to reflect the growing appreciation of the critical role IT Service Management plays as a vital source of value creation for the business.
Nominations for the itSMF Awards are accepted from any Australian organisation and are not restricted to itSMF members only. The award criteria and judging for each category are clearly defined, with nominations assessed by an impartial panel of judges drawn from experienced itSMFA members.

itSMF is delighted to announce a formal Conference partnership with HDAA to expand Australia's largest IT Service Management Conference & Exhibition and cater for Help Desk and Service and Support professionals.
itSMF Chairman Kathryn Heaton and HDAA's Managing Director Iain Maitland believe a closer working relationship represents a watershed moment for the ITSM industry in this country.
HDAA's input to the Conference program is a perfect complement to the organisation's highly successful annual three-day national event. It has long been understood that service desk and support operations are critical to the effective implementation of ITSM improvement strategies so it is only logical to extend the value of our Conference by including designated content on this complementary area of IT.
Under the terms of the new formal partnership agreement reached between itSMF and HDAA, a new 'Support Services' stream will be added to itSMF's LEADit 2013 National Conference at the Canberra Convention Centre in August. Both organisations will share marketing efforts for the event and contribute speakers to the Keynote presentation schedule, although LEADit will still be organised by itSMF.
For members of both associations, this is a case of one plus one totalling more than two. By working together, not only will this relationship benefit the industry, but it will help to shape the industry as we strive for improved standards that reflect the current environment and performance improvement in the effective delivery of IT management and support services.
Merging the practical and theoretical experience of IT service desk, support and service management experts at one large event is a natural evolution that will provide a broader range of material, a better learning experience and greater access to knowledge in one location.
For registration, sponsor and speaker information for the LEADit 2013 National Conference & Exhibition, see www.itsmf.org.au/leadit or email barbara.hines@itsmf.org.au.
Founded in 1999, HDAA is an independent association specialising in the Service and Support Industry. HDAA has achieved a strong reputation for providing independent, authoritative information and advice within this industry and supports its member organisations and individual professionals with a range of services to meet their ongoing challenges in this ever-evolving sector.
In January 2000, HDAA became the first international Gold Country Partner to HDI and also sits on the HDI International Certification Standards Committee (ICSC). We are an Accredited Training Organisation (ATO) for a variety of service and support certifications and APM Group accredited for all our IT Service Management (ITSM) programs.
Our membership covers 100's of organisations in Australia and New Zealand and we've had the pleasure of training 1000's of service and support professionals.
itSMFI is pleased to announce the results of the 2012 International Whitepaper Submission competition.
The quality of entries for this event was extremely high and judging was exceptionally close with just fractions of a point separating the first four places this year.
Entries were invited from all itSMF chapters who were asked to submit up to three entries, representing the best papers from their chapters. Papers needed to be vendor neutral and could not have been published, outside of itSMF previously.
The top three entries in the competition are:
1st Place Junji Obuchi - itSMF Japan "5 Steps to Achieve Successful Service Management"
2nd Place David Bingham - itSMF UK "The Nine Stepping Stones to Meaningful Service Strategy"
3rd Place Kevin Ritter - itSMF USA "Gamification: How will Service Management ‘play along'?"
Congratulations to our winner and to all the finalists from participating chapters. Junji Obuchi will be presented with his prize, an iPad, at the upcoming itSMF Japan Annual Conference.
