Examiners

Examining Bodies

There are currently two examining bodies offering equivalent qualifications.

These are:

  • ISEB (The Information Systems Examining Board), which is part of the British Computing Society
  • Stitching EXIN (The Netherlands Examinations Institute)

Both these examining organisations offer directly equivalent certificates, in a number of languages and in many countries across the world. Each organisation has accredited a number of training organisations to deliver appropriate programmes leading to the various qualifications.

An Examination Management Board comprising representatives from OGC, itSMF and the examining boards oversee the continuous development of the qualifications and ensure harmony is maintained. Work is ongoing to accredit bodies elsewhere in the world to offer equivalent qualifications.

Jointly with Office of Government Commerce (OGC), which is an office of Her Majesty’s Treasury in the UK and the IT Service Management Forum (itSMF), they work to ensure that a common standard is adopted for qualifications worldwide.

The syllabus is based on the core elements of ITIL and complies with ISO9001 Quality Standard.

The examining bodies are also working on expanding the scope of qualifications offered. Full details of the qualifications offered and the accredited training organisations may be obtained by visiting the examining bodies' web sites.

Both ISEB and EXIN also accredit training organisations to deliver training programmes leading to professional qualifications that are keenly sort after world wide as ITIL transcends international boundaries.
